Editorial Integrity

Ophthalmology Quest is committed to accurate, evidence-based patient health information. This page describes how content on this site is selected, written, reviewed, and updated.

All research summaries published on this site are based on peer-reviewed studies indexed on PubMed. We draw from leading ophthalmology journals including Ophthalmology, JAMA Ophthalmology, the American Journal of Ophthalmology, the British Journal of Ophthalmology, and other specialty publications. We do not publish summaries of preprints or unpublished research.

Studies are selected based on clinical relevance to patients, study quality, and importance to the field of ophthalmology. We prioritize randomized controlled trials, prospective cohort studies, and practice-changing findings. We do not accept payment to publish or promote any study.

Articles are written to be understood by a general adult audience. Findings are described accurately and in proportion to what the source abstract supports. We do not exaggerate results, extrapolate beyond the evidence, or present preliminary findings as established clinical fact.

All clinical content is reviewed by board-certified ophthalmologists prior to publication. Reviewers confirm that patient-facing summaries accurately reflect the underlying research and that no clinically misleading statements are present.

We are committed to correcting errors promptly. If a published article is found to contain a factual error or misrepresentation, it will be corrected and the correction noted in the article. Significant corrections are reflected in the article’s updated date.

Content on Ophthalmology Quest is for informational and educational purposes only. It is not medical advice and should not replace consultation with a qualified healthcare professional. Patients should always discuss their individual circumstances with their ophthalmologist or physician.
